10.0 Medication Record
The medication record form is where non protocol medications are added. The form functions as both a medication record and a prescription writing module.
Add a medication
Click on 'Record a medication' to expand the popup:
Search for a medication to prescribe
Once you've selected the medication, the popup will close and you'll return to the Medication Record page.
Entering the dose
Once all requirements have been entered you can choose to save the medication to your favourites for quick prescribing for other patients in the future.
Printing a script
To print a script to DHS community pharmacy paper or an e-script, tick the medication to print.
Ceasing a medication
Interim script page
Once you click Print, an interim script page will open.
Drugs requiring streamlined authority
On the Interim script page, if there is a Lookup button to the right of the medication line, click this to find the code with the reason approved for prescribing this medication.

Add a medication
Click on 'Record a medication' to expand the popup:
Search for a medication to prescribe
- To add a new medication click on the red 'Lookup' button at the top of the popup.
- There is a ‘drug not found’ checkbox which can be used for drugs that are not listed in MIMS. If drugs are entered using ‘drug not found’ it is not possible to report or interrogate this data.
- The MIMS lookup will start searching after 3 characters. You can search on generic or trade name as well as having the option to enter the route of administration to narrow your search.
- Once you have found the desired drug click on the drug name.

Entering the dose
- The main information about the drug will populate the fields below.
- You need to enter the dose, units OR amount (you will not be able to enter both a dose/units AND an amount) and the frequency and repeats.
- Enter the reason for prescribing if desired.
- If you are not the prescriber, select the prescriber from the drop-down list at the bottom of the grid.
Once all requirements have been entered you can choose to save the medication to your favourites for quick prescribing for other patients in the future.

To print a script to DHS community pharmacy paper or an e-script, tick the medication to print.
Ceasing a medication
- To cease a medication click on the 'Cease' icon
- You will be prompted to give a reason for ceasing, if the reasons is toxicity a red lookup button will appear so that you can search for the toxicity using the MIMS toxicity lookup. Once you have entered the reason and description click 'Save'.
- Your ceased medication will drop down to the 'Past Medications' section of the page.
Interim script page
Once you click Print, an interim script page will open.
- Enter the quantity of the medication if relevant.
- Click Lookup to search for a streamlined authority code if it's a drug requiring authority.
- Choose to Save & Close to complete scripting later or choose Print to print the script immediately.
