10.4 Edit Protocol - Adding an ad hoc medication to a protocol
To add an ad hoc medication to a protocol step, simply click on the 'Plus' sign '+'
A popup window will open where you click the Lookup button to search MIMS for the medication to add:
In the MIMS popup, begin typing the name of the drug, either generic or brand name. You can narrow the search by entering the route of administration if desired.
Then, click on the medication with the correct strength and route. The popup will close and return to the Ad Hoc Medication page:
The MIMS search window will close and return to the Ad Hoc Medication page. The medication you've selected will display. Configure the dose, units, route and the vehicle or diluent the drug should be administered with and the duration of administration if relevant.
Save the page and return to Edit Protocol. The medication will display at the bottom of the med list with a + sign before the name. The medication can be moved higher in the list of drugs for earlier administration if needed, by clicking the green arrows on the drug line.
