17.8 Protocol Admin- Copy and Edit the Protocol Cycle of a copied protocol



Protocol Creation - Modifying the build of the Protocol


Here you can see on the left hand side of the Edit Protocol Cycle page the Tree which allows you to click on the step required.

Firstly, to build your protocol is check the Medications are correct. Add, delete and modify medications in the list of medications.

To add a medication, click 'Add Medication'. This will provide a new line below the list of drugs.

Medications can be filtered to search by route if desired

To add a medication, start typing the generic name of the medication. A drop-down list will display from which you can select the correct strength, route and authority codes.





































You are also able Delete any existing Medications not required if your Protocol has been copied.




The following elements need to be completed for each Medication using either the drop down box or by ticking the box.

A) Route

B) Container

C) Whether the Drug is the Primary Therapy

D) Set a Capped Actual dose (If Dose is Capped centrally in 'Pharmacy Orders > Medication Safety Rules')

E) The medication Type, whether 'Infusion' or 'Others'

F) The Script Type, either 'Protocol Script' (the default options) or 'Via Script Step'. For cancer protocols, this should ALWAYS remain as Protocol Script

G) The fluids the Drug is compatible with, i.e. sodium chloride, glucose, neat etc



The Maintain Unlisted Meds button opens a page where drugs that are not listed in MIMS can be created and stored for your organisation. You can add your own formulary via this link to your Unlisted Medications Page.
