2024/07/15 - Release Notes (Clinical)
New Features
Treatment Consents integrated to Protocol Module - this is THE major clinical function in this release so Consents has its own Release Notes
Prescription / Medication Record Changes - eScripts module for ad hoc medications is now in test and will be released in 2H 2024 but meantime a number of mandatory changes have been made to the general prescribing module in support of the upcoming eScripts.
Medication Record - add Reason for Prescribing. - in edit mode of a medication on the Medication Record form, the free text Indication field of a medication has been changed to Reason for Prescribe and there is a lookup button to add a coded reason (to SNOMED CT) - see below.
When you click the Lookup button, the popup appears below. The list is massively long so might take a few seconds to load the first time someone uses it for the day. To populate your reason back on the main page, select from list or tick can't find in list.
If you tick Cant find in list you will have the option to clear selection and try with another search term or use entered text to populate the field on the medication record.
Prescription Record - this page has had a number of changes made including adding search fields at the top of the page (notice that script formats for eScripts or printed scripts with barcodes are on this page already although eScripts function is still being finalised for upcoming release). In addition to search functions, the edit pencil has been colour coded orange to signify script is in draft (if the script requires an authority code and does not have one it will be saved as draft) and a new Hx icon which will start appearing on new scripts you create. See below.
This will open to a popup where you can view the history of how many times that particular script has been printed/reprinted and by whom. See popup screen below.
Prescription Additional Info - this page generated permanent script IDs previously so if user closed the page without saving a draft or final script record, the script ID was wasted. This page now generates a temporary script ID or IDs and will release any unused ones the next day if the user hits Close on the page. You should not notice any difference as to how this page operates otherwise.
Extemporaneous drugs - another requirement for eScripts is to flag drugs as extemporaneous. This is now a tickbox when you create an Unlisted Medication. This will appear on the medication record when the drug is in Edit mode and will later appear on the eScripts additional info page and be sent as a flag in an eScript.
Unsigned Phone Orders - a lot of doctors have been getting behind on their Unsigned Phone/Standing Orders list. You now have a button to Sign All - this will sign all in the list for the logged in prescriber - if you have added search criteria / filters to the Unsigned Phone Orders at the top the Sign All button will sign all that meet the search criteria.
Record Summary - The heading for Conditions list has been changed to Principal Diagnosis and Other Conditions - it has come to our attention also through some Help Desk tickets that some users are not aware that the Section Headings in the Record Summary are quick links into the pertinent visit form. It is not a new feature but just a reminder you have quick navigation into Medication Record, Protocol Cycles, Notes, Conditions and Allergies/ADRs and a number of other record forms from this page.
Summary
The Summary function designed for Doctors to summarise the key findings for a patient to include in a letter has been enhanced to include the following changes:
- Row heights and column widths are now individually resizeable/changeable
- Typing in a cell no longer increases the column width, which previously caused tables to be unusable (adjust width manually)
- Text in cells may now be horizontally or vertically aligned
- Cell borders may now be hidden, allowing for alignment of text without a border
Nursing Assessment Form and Reports
Distress thermometer - some nursing staff were having difficulty with this function on the form as a click and drag - instructions have been added to make clearer how to adjust the score
Access location and site (subcutaneous) - additional options that are common have been added as radio buttons to the subcut access
Access location (cannula) - both left and right have been added as option for cannula location
Cannula in situ - this has been added as a checkbox and the cannula details changed to be New cannula
Nursing Assessment Data Access report has been aligned to include all the fields added to the Access section of the form
Flow Chart - A change to nurse initiated and standing order medications has been made on the Flow Chart to make them stand out more. The NI and SO now looks like an icon.
AOD / VADC Changes - a number of changes to forms and VADC reporting are included in separate Release Notes. Demographic changes to support VADC reporting are included in the Release Notes (Admin) document.
Bug fixes
Hospital Script address and provider number - address and provider number on this script format was being applied inconsistently. This is now using the prescribers primary site if the site is ticked as being a hospital otherwise the organisation address and provider number. Address on community pharmacy script has not changed (this first checks the address on the user details record).
Medicaton record - units not validating - units dropdown was not validating under certain circumstances, allowing a dose based medication without units to be added. This has been resolved.
Pharmacy Orders - orphaned (unused) drugs - unused drugs without an expiry date were being offered to a new patient even though they had been archived. Unused drugs now checks expiry date and archived status
Appointment List - infection risk icon - this icon was not showing on auto refresh; would reappear on search. This has been resolved.
